Only the good die young!

I sat at a Irish bar in Helsinki last week with my friend, just having fun and listening to a fairly good cover-band. Sitting at the same table was a (originally) Swedish guy that had come to visit his relatives in Helsinki. He was living at the moment in Australia. Any hows, as discussions usually evolves, we started talking bout artists that has passed way before their time. We talked about Janis, Hendrix, Morrison and sort of every one that is always mentioned in discussions like these. Than he brought up Elvis, and stupidly I objected and said I think he died just in time. Now I feel awful about it. Who am I to say when people should die? Been thinking since then what the right time is. I've got a couple of theories, but since I don't know the meaning of life (otherwise than it being 42, whatever that means?!?) these theories might as well be as wrong as they may be right.

First of all: Every one should have the rights to fulfil his/hers dream/dreams. At least get a chance to try. But that doesn't carry far. I mean, my dreams evolve and grow in the same range as mould in my trash can. Does that mean I'm only allowed to fulfil one dream or does it mean that I'm going to live forever (and learn how to fly)? And what if your dreams can't be fulfilled?? For instance, you want to see your children grow, but can't seem to know how to produce them, or your body refuses to co-operate?

At a karaoke bar a couple of days ago, I was accompanied by a couple, with a girl that felt anxious about the increasing number of persons surrounding her. Her boyfriend then said something that hit me a bit like a hammer. I've read it before in, I think, a book by Richard Bandler, but never thought it could be adapted to small every day things that happens during a regular day. Well he said: "If you want to have something you don't have, you have to learn how to want what you have". Very true in every situation. I think this is the key to happiness. But if you feel satisfied in every way all the time, doesn't that leave out dreaming? So if you should be able to fulfil a dream before you die, but since you're already satisfied with your life, you have no use of dreams, so why not just die? On the other hand I believe that Oscar Wilde was right when he said: "A cigarette is the perfect type of a perfect pleasure. It is exquisite, and it leaves one unsatisfied. What more can one want?"

Secondly: I believe that everyone who dies before he/she dies due to old age, surrounded by his/hers grandchildren at a summer villa in Italy dies too young.
